iSERMON OUTLINE:

More Than Conquerors:
#6 - Cleared Amidst Critics

Speaker: Pastor Lowell Perkins
October 14, 2007
Sunday Morning Service

Radical Realities from Romans 8

Romans 8:31-34 (NIV)
31  What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32  He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
33  Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
34  Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

our complete salvation

  • a great price - v. 32,34 - "He...did not spare his own Son...Christ died"

  • a great proof - v. 34 - "Christ Jesus...was raised to life"

  • a great pick - v. 33 - "those whom God has chosen"

  • a great pronouncement - v. 33 - "it is God who justifies"

our comprehensive supply

  • access to God - v. 34 - "Christ...is also interceding for us"

  • abundance of grace - v. 32 - "He...will...graciously give us all things"

our critics stopped

  • condemnation - v. 33,34 - "who will bring any charge...who is he that condemns?"

  • critics:

    1) unregenerate sinners - 1PE.2:12 - "pagans...accuse you of doing wrong"
    2) unforgiving saints - 1PE. 4:8 - "love covers over a multitude of sins"
    3) unrelenting satan - REV.12:10; ZEC.3:1 - "the accuser of our brothers"
    4) unforgetting self - 1JN.3:20 - "whenever our hearts condemn us...God is greater"
    5) unmerciful saints - RO.14:4 - "who are you to judge someone else's servant?"

our confident summary

  • the Christian's conclusion - v. 31 - "God is for us"

  • the Christian's question - v. 31 - "Who can be against us?"

ACTION POINTS:

  • evaluate yourself in the Lord
  • encourage yourself in the Lord
