Capital Campaign Launch - December 11, 2011:

A message from Bob Gilbert, chair of our Capital Campaign Team:

Our capital campaign for raising funds for our new church facilities on our property on Edgewood Drive began December 11, 2011 with a kickoff during the morning services and will continue into 2012 with more announcements and information about how you might consider becoming a part of our church’s future.

Watch the December 11, 2011 Capital Campaign Launch:

We are Building to advance God’s Kingdom for all generations….and it is our turn!  You’ll see that statement throughout the campaign, and we’ve picked our theme verse for this campaign to be Psalm 22:30 – “Our children will also serve Him. Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord.”

Generations are at the heart of this campaign:  our generation and future generations as well.  The generation occupying our current church building is enjoying the sacrifice and investment made by so many who came before us.  Some who now attend our church invested in the past in our current facilities and for that we are truly thankful, but for many of us, including me and my family, we have come to be a part of this body at a time when the investment in these facilities we enjoy had already been made.  We are reaping that investment through the ministry of this church. Just yesterday, our children were ministered to and became ministers of the gospel through a great Junior Bible Quiz meet and the Christmas musical production here.  We are about training up the next generation at this church and that really excites me and our team!  At the center of this campaign is the acknowledgement of that simple fact that generations who have gone before us have paved the way for what we enjoy today, and it is OUR TURN to do the same for not only our own generation but for those who will come after we are gone.

The theme of our campaign is 4G – Generations. Give. Grow. Go.  Generations is at the heart and is why we are going to do this. The other G’s are action words that we believe will describe the sequence of the campaign – we will Give to Grow the Body, Grow to Go and Tell the World!  We’ll spend time in 2012 diving into each of these 4 G’s deeper and explain more about the giving levels needed to fund our future facilities, but first we wanted to announce the campaign and let you know that it has officially begun and if you feel lead to give this year you may by indicating it on your giving envelope, and in 2012 we will have special designated envelopes available for giving to the campaign as well.  We thought it would be especially important to have separate envelopes to signify the difference between tithes and offerings.  We want to be clear – as we developed this campaign and ask you to consider giving to it, we do not want you to divert your tithe to the campaign.  In fact, if you have yet to begin tithing on your income, we request that you do that in obedience and faith first, and then and only then that you give toward our campaign.

We’ll be back in January and February to discuss the campaign further, but until then let me leave you with this…If you read the 22nd Psalm in full, David, before making the statement that has become our theme verse… “Our children will also serve Him. Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord.”, you’ll find that the chapter actually begins with David crying out to God in desperate pleas for deliverance from his enemies that seemed to be on all sides.  As the chapter continues forward, David starts to praise God with confident statements of faith amidst those troubles.  He did not know if he would even make it out of that situation alive, considering the challenges he faced.  Yet he spoke words of faith not only about his present situation, but about the future generations who would hear about what the Lord had done.  Let it be said of us that through great sacrifice and faith that we were a generation who said in faith as well…”Our children will also serve Him. Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord.”
